Hello, I am Dr. Kim Kyung-soo, Chief Physician at UHCELL Clinic Seocho branch.

“My face looks red after vacation, and my melasma looks darker too.” Sun exposure, heat, air conditioning, and lost sleep can overlap in August, making several changes appear at once. Mirrors and phone photos can also look different under different lighting.

I do not start with the name of a procedure. I use skin images captured under consistent conditions to organize red areas, brown pigment, sebum, and pore distribution, and then compare those images with the actual skin.

Redness and pigmentation can overlap in photographs

When the skin feels hot, the area around brown pigment may also look redder and darker. After redness settles, pigmentation on the cheekbones or forehead may become more noticeable.

I do not rely on selfies taken under different lighting and angles. We compare color and texture by facial area under consistent imaging conditions and check for heat, dryness, or pain on the actual skin.

AI skin imaging supports consultation; it does not replace diagnosis

Skin imaging can organize patterns that are easy to miss by eye and gives the patient and clinician the same screen to discuss. A single score, however, cannot diagnose a disease or decide a procedure by itself.

A physician review is required. We consider the imaging result with the actual skin, recent procedures, current medication, and usual reactions. When the screen and examination differ, the actual skin condition takes priority.

Let the imaging reflect your usual skin condition

When possible, avoid vigorous massage, scrubs, and a new skin-care product immediately before imaging. Tell the clinician about recent sun exposure and reactions. Your usual sunscreen and active products are also useful information.

Persistent redness with eye discomfort, pain, oozing, or rapid color change should not be treated as a routine cosmetic concern. A skin condition may need to be evaluated first.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can AI skin imaging be done while I am wearing makeup?

Imaging conditions vary by device and consultation goal. Ask about makeup removal and preparation when booking.

Does a poor imaging score mean I need a procedure immediately?

No. The score is consultation data. Planning also considers the actual skin, daily habits, and recovery schedule.

Can redness and melasma be discussed on the same day?

Yes, but their causes and priorities may differ. Treatment order may change when irritation remains.

Redness and pigmentation appearing together after vacation do not necessarily have the same cause.
